Our Story
About Blessed Group of Schools
From a vision in Simbock, Yaoundé, to one of Cameroon's most trusted bilingual institutions. This is the story of BGS — built on faith, sustained by discipline, and driven by the belief that every Cameroonian child deserves an extraordinary education.
Our Foundation
We Saw a Need. We Built Something Real.
The Blessed Anglo-Saxon Group of Schools was founded on a conviction that has never changed: that quality education is not a privilege for the few, but a right every motivated child should be able to access.
We began in the Simbock neighbourhood of Yaoundé — a community with ambition but limited access to the kind of structured, values-based, bilingual education that prepares children not just for examinations, but for life.
More than a decade later, BGS operates across multiple campuses, offers seven technical specialities alongside full academic programmes, maintains active international partnerships with UK and Turkey universities, and continues to grow — because the need has not diminished. If anything, it has grown alongside us.
"To create the right environment for learning and to develop creative, active minds in young Cameroonians."
— BGS Institutional Mission
What Guides Us
Mission, Vision & Values
Our Mission
To create the right environment for learning — to develop creative, active minds in young Cameroonians through discipline, hard work, faith, and excellence.
Our Vision
To provide a holistic education that prepares learners for a competitive and evolving global economy — producing graduates who are competent, disciplined and globally competitive.
Our Promise
"Discipline | Hard Work | Success — With Jesus at the Centre." These are not slogans. They are the lived commitments that every student, teacher and parent at BGS can hold us to.
How We Operate
Six Values. Every Day.
Our values are not aspirational. They are operational — present in every classroom decision, every disciplinary moment, and every word of encouragement.
The Fear of God
Faith shapes character. We place Jesus at the centre — not as a performance, but as the foundation of how we treat every student, parent and colleague.
Hard Work
There are no shortcuts to excellence. We teach students to value the process — consistent effort, daily practice, and the long view of achievement.
Discipline
Structure, order and self-regulation are not restrictions — they are the conditions in which human potential flourishes. Our campus reflects this at every level.
Integrity
We say what we mean and do what we say. Our students graduate with a reputation for trustworthiness that follows them into every career and community they enter.
Equity
Every student receives the same quality of attention and care regardless of background. We believe excellence should be accessible to all who are willing to work for it.
Professionalism
We cultivate the habits of professional life from day one — punctuality, presentation, communication and accountability — because these matter beyond school.
Our People
A Team Built for Excellence
Our teaching team is one of BGS's greatest competitive advantages — experienced, trained, and deeply committed to every student in their care.
Seasoned GCE Examiners
Our teachers include practising GCE examiners — professionals who know exactly what markers look for and prepare students accordingly.
ENS-Trained Teachers
Many of our academic teachers are graduates of the École Normale Supérieure — Cameroon's gold standard for teacher formation and pedagogical excellence.
Committed Specialists
Our technical teachers bring real industry experience to the workshop — giving students instruction grounded in actual professional practice, not theory alone.
Beyond Cameroon
An International Dimension
BGS does not limit its students' horizons to Cameroon. Our international partnerships open doors to further study and global professional networks.
United Kingdom
Active university partnerships enabling student exchange programmes and further study opportunities in the UK.
Turkey
College and university partnerships in Turkey providing additional pathways for BGS graduates seeking international qualifications.
London Summer Camp
BGS students travelled to London for a summer camp programme in 2024 — experiencing international educational culture firsthand.
